    Yeah I would just as soon secede from the rest of Virginia just like West Va did.

    Several years ago, the coal producing counties of Va and Ky considered trying to form a new state - Cumberland, I think was one of the names suggested.

    I don't remember anything about it...do you have any sorces (I did Google for it but did not find anything but did find a coupple of cool sites dealing with SWVA/NET in the Civil war)

    No, this is old stuff that never got off the ground. We never got beyond insulting some folks. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] We made an issue sorta like the Boston tea party.

    I remember what you are talking about spuds. I think they were gonna call it Cumberland, or Appalachia. It would have consisted of WV, SW VA, SE KY, NE TN, NW NC, and possibly NE GA.

    TN Governor John Sevier wanted to make a new state consisting of NE TN, SWVA, A bit of NC, and a corner of KY. That was a really long time ago though.
